Snap On, Snap Off......The Snapper!

This guy came out of the woods when we took our golf cart ride on the back of the farm this morning. Elly jumped off the golf cart and immediately ran towards him. He reared back on a fours, stuck his long neck out and snapped at her! She yiped and was lucky he didn't bite her nose off. He was a good size alligator snapper, too, well over a foot long and with dried mud all on the top of his shell. Check out those claws on his left leg. Nathan looked at him in amazement from the cart, pointing at him and babbling in baby talk. I took these pics from a good distance with the zoom lens. We then left him to venture on to the pond, I'm certain.
