Mr. Big Bites the Dust

Mom and Dad were in a head on collision this week. A young girl reaching for her dropped cellphone ran smack into them going 45 in a 25. Both Mom and Dad suffered cuts, deep bruises and contusions. Mom wore the brunt of the accident (not having an airbag) and crushed her kneecap in 3 places. We are so grateful it wasn't worse. Both my parents are in their 70's and have lived healthy, injury-free lives until this accident. I hope they can recover completely but I feel they might have pain from this permanently. The car known as "Mr. Big" is no more. The horn never worked and wouldn't you know it, the fire department had to break the fuse box and cut the lines after the impact to silence the horn. Sort of like its last gasp of air. The siblings are pitching in to help with their care. DJ is supposed to arrive from Maui on Thursday. That will cheer them up tremendously. Mom might get her birthday wish on Sunday (31st) and have all 8 of us siblings together for the weekend. Its been 5 years since we have all been together.

Ready for the Road

The two of us are ready to take on the road! His bike seat came in the mail last week and I had my bike serviced putting new gears on it as well as handlebar grips. I found a helmet for him at Toys R Us. We've already been around the farm and to the airport. Nathan seems to enjoy the outdoors and our rides!

Laid Back Sunday

We decided to hang out on the farm today and with it being so hot lately you don't want to venture far. Elly posed for this black and white earlier this morning. Nathan and I went bike riding for a brief time this afternoon. He fell asleep in the seat and I had to hold him up so he wouldn't fall off. The start of another week and I'm thinking this is gonna be the week he starts taking off and crawling. So far he can get up on his hands and knees but simply leaps and lands on his stomach flailing his arms and legs like he's trying to swim! He'll be 8 months on the 25th. Hard to imagine how the time has flown.........I like days like today because they seem to regenerate me for the week. All four of us have been taking little cat naps throughout the day...some more than others......Nate should sleep good tonight.......

Bathtime Fun

Nathan loves his baths! In between the thunderstorms this evening I plopped him in the sink for a little fun. It was a hot one today. Cole and Calli came over to ride the go kart and really had a good time.

End of A Great Week, Start of Anew

BBall camp came to an end and the team lost in the title game. They had fun and made a few friends and hopefully learned something about the game. You always feel that if you reach one kid you've done your job and it's ha-ha funny thinking that on Monday you can't wait til' Friday and then on Friday you wish it wasn't over.....Can't wait to drag Nate to these in a few years. The three of us ate at Outback last night. The lobster tails and tenderloin hit the spot and I probably made my pancreas work overtime. But I woke up feeling pretty good......hope it lasts ;) Think we are gonna take a trip to SC a p/u some peaches and fireworks. Cowpens area had some great stands if memory serves me correctly. We took a trip a couple of years ago and stumbled across this stand selling a Flaming Prince type of peach. It is simply the best peach I have ever eaten. Haven't had a decent one since, either.....Get the medport flushed tomorrow so Mom will keep Nathan later in the morning. George collected over 3 dozen eggs from the chickens. We are not allowing them to sit until the Fall because the heat would kill bittys right now. I can't wait for Nathan to see them when their hatched and running all around. The kittens are getting so friendly and I think this litter will be the one's to stay. We will take them to the vet soon and have them fixed. 2 females and a male.

1st Day of Camp Down,4 to Go

Boy am I pooped! There were over 150 kids at the OS camp. Down from last year, probably due to the 4th falling on a Monday. Calli and Cole had a blast and I bet they sleep good tonight. I know I will. It was good to see everyone again. I took Nate's pics along to show off like a mother should! I sure was glad to see him at my mom's this afternoon.....the little spud!
Ate crabs and homemade ice cream this evening and George enjoyed his b-day.

The Crab Bite Was On

Even though the wind had blown the water out of our favorite canals, George managed to find a cooler full of crabs on another part of the sound. Enough to divide between three of his workers and himself. We are going to eat them tomorrow afternoon when I get home from camp. Mom and Dad in law are coming over to help, it will also be George's 48th birthday. I'm giving him something really special. He loved the secret gift certificates I gave him one year so I think I will do it again. He can redeem them for back rubs, facials, and anything else he truly desires! Oh yea, baby........

Hazy, Lazy Morning

Nathan is napping for a bit after rising early, early this morning. Rennie and his new girlfriend had dinner with us last night. Nathan decided to stay up late, but quickly fell asleep once in his crib. The food was good, George fixed steaks on the grill and used the Jack Daniels marinating packets. They taste unbelievably good! Corn from GW's garden is incredible. Cotton Candy variety and very sweet. Looking forward to working bball camp next week. Cole and Calli are going with me this year. This is their first time and I'm sure it won't be the last once the week ends. The OS location is the largest camp and it's my favorite to work because the kids are so good. Nathan is stayin' with my mom for the week. She can't wait to have him all day and for a week, too? She is gonna be suffering bigtime from empty nest syndrome in a couple of weeks! George has gone crabbing this morning with a couple of his workers. I hope they have success, last time he went the winds were blowing NE most of the week and blew the water out of the canals. Wasted trip, and it's a long one at that. I will write more when he returns and hopefully tell you about the OVER abundance of crabs he catches!
